The Fast Track to Better
Stock Market Chart Reading
1. Buy Timing the Trade - How Price & Volume Move Markets.
2. Listen to "The Tom O'Brien Show" on radio or download the podcast at
www.tfnn.com.
3. Join The Tiger's Den and watch Tom read charts during his radio show
www.tfnn.com.
Like many others, I used to plug in stock market symbols of all my favorite
stocks at BigCharts.com and tried to make sense of all the different stock
market charts. Then I found Tom O'Brien!
Seriously, I've read Technical Analysis books, and looked at hundreds
(probably thousands) of stock market charts. Nobody makes it look as simple
and teaches it as well as Tom.
The book is great and easy to read. But, it really all comes together when
you listen to the radio show. An extra bonus I get from listening to the
show are tips on great stocks from Tom's audience. For instance, a caller
will call in and ask Tom about a certain stock or commodity. Tom will pull
up the chart, give the current stock market quote and analyze chart. Tom
will look at charts of dozens of stockmarket symbols during each show.
Best of all, Tom begins each segment with the view of several stock market
indicators. It's great to watch in the Tiger's Den as Tom looks at the chart
history of the stock market and finds key swing points and levels of support
and resistance.
Some of the topics covered in the book include: the definition and
importance of quality volume, how to read a candlestick stock chart, how to
use Fibonacci ratios, setting up the trade, and risk and money management. I
have adopted his strategies and consult a candlestick chart before investing
in any stock.
Don't worry if you don't get The Tom O'Brien radio show in your market. Each
show is archived and is available as a podcast at his website www.tfnn.com.
If you want to see something really cool, sign up for The Tiger's Den where
you can watch Tom in action. Members of the Tiger's Den get access to video
analysis of the Tom O'Brien show archived each and every day after the show
is completed. The Tiger's Den video actually shows Tom's computer screen as
his callers give him their stock market symbols.
Take these 3 steps today and watch how quickly you become a better stock
picker.
Nothing New,
February 15, 2006
I
thought that the book was easy to understand, but I did not find it
particulary helpful. I think there are better books for most of the areas
covered e.g. fibonacci, candlesticks, volume etc. Might be okay as a
beginning primer, but I think there are better books for the money.
A must-read book for any stockmarket trader.,

This
book covers the essential material one must know to trade successfully in
the stockmarket.
It covers Candlestick,Volume Analysis,Confluence levels and things you need
to know before you enter a
trade. It also cover's trend channels.
This book is very simple to read and is excellent for someone who knows
little about trading stocks.
This book is helpful to trader's who consistently loose money in the market
and don't understand why they made a bad trade.
I have read many books about trading stocks for the past 20 years. Most of
them you can just throw out of the window.
This book is well written and I highly recommend it to anyone.
You don't need to buy many books to be a good trader. Some other books I
have found to be very useful in my trading
career are the following:
* Technical Analysis of Stock Trends (7th Edition) by Robert Edwards and
Magee.
* Technical Traders Guide to Computer Analysis of the Futures Markets by
Charles Lebeau, David W. Lucas
* Stockpatterns for Daytrading by Barry Rudd
* Technical Analysis : Power Tools for Active Investors by Gerald Appel
This is THE book on trading,

Volume
analysis is THE most important indicator for the decision making process of
purchasing equities. I read the book several times and highlighted almost
every page as each page had something important to remember. I have read
many books on TA. Some books have filler pages full of horse fuffies and cow
pucks. This book is straight forward and says it with the least amount of
fluff and maximum efficiency. Don't let the number of pages fool you, this
book is well worth it's price and then some! Thanks to the contents of this
book, I made enough to buy a library of these books! Tom Obrien is awesome!

Tom has
outdone himself with this version of Timing the Trade. The chapters are not
too long and not too short...just right; easy to read with excellent visual
examples. A very consistent system that relies on the simplest concept that
drives the market...Supply and Demand....where they intersect....is the
market in harmony relative to supply and demand.....brilliant. An excellent
resource/supplement to the TFNN website and the radio/web show.
A must-have book for beginning or advanced traders,

There
are three stock market and trading books that I consider must-haves for
anyone interested in trading stock markets:
* Stan Weinstein's Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets;
* Reminiscences of a Stock Operator;
and now
*Tom O'Brien's Timing the Trade.
Timing the Trade is an easy-to-read, instructive work teaching trading
principles such as ABC theory, volume, fibonnacci and confluence and how to
combine them to determine the optimal entry and exit points for your stock
market trades.
Learning Tom's system using Timing the Trade teaches you how to remove the
emotion from your trades, which in my case, has resulted in making me a much
more successful trader.
I highly recommend Timing the Trade!
A Complete System,
December 27, 2005
Tom
O'Brien provides a complete system for trading the markets. He explains
patiently and thoroughly where to buy, where to sell and how to manage high
probablity trades. Through his Book (as well as his nationally syndicated
Radio Show at tfnn.com) he takes traders by the hand and guides them through
the process of executing great trades as well as the money management
techniques required for success.
Timing the Trade is an absolute must for any trader. I have improved my
trading performance several fold since finding Tom O'Brien.

Very few
books on trading will lay out the author's methods, but this one does, and
it does it in a very clear and concise manner.
Tom walks you through every step of the way with very easy to understand
language and simple examples.
I highly recommend this book, especially for people looking for a place to
get started.
Timing the Trade will become a classic.,

I found
Timing The Trade to be a very well written, clear and concise work.
O' Briens's trading method uses volume and fibonacci techniques to create an
easy to follow system in plain english and the book's conversational style
is a joy to read.
The author has created a book which addresses all parts of a trade using his
system amongst many other things you will learn :-
(i) How to find a setup for entry
(ii) How to define the risk/reward in the prospective trade
(iii) How to define your plan to exit (in a win or lose situation)
in short an illustrated manual of how to plan the trade and then trade the
plan.
An excellent book that uses a 'hands on' approach to guide you through the
market maze.

Tom
O'Brien's TIMING THE TRADE is a gateway to the world of Fibonacci-based
financial market trading and the rich 100-plus year legacy of American
Technical Analysis, dating back to Jesse Livermore, Richard Wyckoff, Gerald
Loeb, Richard Schabacker, Edwards and Magee, Jack Dreyfuss, William O'Neil,
Joe Granville, John Murphy, Steve Nison, and right up to the present day
stock market swing low of October 13th, 2005 -- which Tom O'Brien correctly
called to the day on his daily radio show.
In particular, Tom O'Brien's "Swing Volume" methodology is among the most
compelling technical trading criteria I've seen in over 120 financial market
books studied to date.
Tom O'Brien also addresses classic technical channels, candlestick charting,
the use of indicators, and other aspects of technical chart analysis --
along with ALL IMPORTANT money management techniques -- to compose a very
succinct, practical, and robust approach to trading markets of all kinds in
all time frames.
